On The Horizon

I suck, I know – sorry for the radio silence. It’s cruel of me not to give you access to my brilliance on a regular and consistent basis, I’ll try to be better about that. It hasn’t been all for naught though, I promise – I’ve got 3 (count ’em, 3) big projects that I’m working on, and I’m ready to share the whispers of my endeavors with you lucky folks.

Project #1

I have finally (gasp) admitted that I completely and totally suck at graphic design, and have found an AMAZING graphic artist who is reworking all of my book covers. Next Wednesday, April 8, I will unveil the first two. It will be magnificent, you don’t want to miss it.

Project #2

Right on the heels of all this unveiling will be the release of my next non-fiction book, tentatively called The Golden Goose (but I tend to change my titles roughly eight million times before publication…and sometimes after publication, so don’t get too attached). I’m shooting for a release date of May 20th.

Project #3

Guys…I’m writing fiction again. And it’s everything I thought it could be. I’m working on two novels somewhat simultaneously (that’s just how I roll), which should be chaotic, but somehow isn’t. The first one, called The Part of Me That’s You, is a family drama – the tag line is, “Divorce ends the marriage…not the relationship”. It’s a way of telling the story of my divorce…without telling the story of my divorce, if you get my meaning. I started working on the premise with my mother-in-law back in 2010, but we didn’t get very far. Now 5 years later, it’s much more poignant, and writing it has been very therapeutic.

The second one is something I’m crazy excited for, and I’m actually hoping to get a conversation started either here or on Facebook about the subject matter. The premise is a matriarchal society – women run the show, and our adventure takes place roughly 75 years after a world-wide epidemic wiped out 85% of the adult male population. I’ll go into it more in a later post so I can get your input, ’cause right now I’m busy creating the world and researching things like the spread of the Black Death (a light-hearted tale) and behaviors within bee hives and ant colonies. Any suggestions you have for research ideas will be noted – but before you scream THE HANDMAID’S TALE!!!!…several people already beat you to it. I have it on hold at the library.

Happy Thursday – it’s a void-of-course moon all day today, so hold off on any big decisions and don’t sign any contracts you want to stick. You’re welcome.
